For the harsh lighting I think you did a good job here.
Compositionally, I like how you left some room in front of mom.
Especially like the lighting on mom’s neck with the S curve.
Is this baby teething already?
Mom seemed to be protesting something? LOL

A great moment to capture .. wondering if you could crop this vertically .. around midway of the foreground seal .. will help get rid of the distraction on top right and bring the expression of the arching seal more into prominence .. along with the cute baby seal.
Must have been dif to expose this .. taken at mid day with shimmering sand in the background..

Vikas, I just couldn’t pull a vertical composition because of a lot of other elephant seals behind and in front of this mom and baby pair. The verticals I tried all were too busy, and it was difficult to tell what was the main focal point of the photo. However, I’ll keep going back and trying to get a better shot.
