Longtail Boat, Tup Island, Thailand.

We decided to try Deep water Soloing in Thailand. The boat picked us up from West Railay Beach. We went to one island for DWS, and then at lunch stopped at Tup Island. One can also visit this island on a 4 island speed boat tour of the islands.

The blue, clear, warm water under the blue sky – that was a beautiful day in a beautiful place. Now I know what they mean by tropical paradise.

Saman Bouldering, Phra Nang beach, Railay, Thailand.

Back in July I was in Thailand with Mitesh, my husband. We went there intending to climb the gorgeous limestone cliffs on beaches next to blue blue waters. And we were certainly not disappointed.
On our first evening there, we wandered over to the Phra Nang beach intending to boulder. There we saw the impressive sight of Saman, an employee of the national park bouldering. He was very self effacing and was talking about how he did “some” climbing. Boy, did we see how much the “some” climbing turned out to be. He was essentially free-soloing some climbs which others climb roped. We were were gawking along with Pete, another boulderer, at Saman’s remarkable climbing.

Talking to Pete, we found out that he was, along with his wife Fiona were on a world tour. They started in their home in Scotland to South America and were making their way back home across the world in 365 days. Their travel blog, Pete and Fiona’s travel blog makes very interesting reading. See if you can read their account of their time in Bolivia…

Banyan Tree, Singapore.

I don’t know what is it about Banyan trees that photographers love, me included. This particular one was almost visual poetry.

After alighting at Singapore’s excellent Changi airport, I had almost 10 hours to kill. So I decided to take one of the free tours they offer. On the Colonial tour, we went to the riverfront and got a glimpse of colonial Singapore history. We saw the statue of Sir Stamford Raffles, Singapore’s founder, made of pure white polymarble, the bumboats, statues and other city sights.

I still wonder that, what fascinated me most was this banyan tree…

Side Note: My uninspired phase seems to be over. I will now update the blog thrice a week. Keep coming for new photos and stuff I do.
